The original Harvest Bucks incentive program for SNAP/EBT users that expired this past March has now been renewed. Belfast Farmers’ Market will resume distributing and redeeming Maine Harvest Bucks beginning June 1st, 2018, thanks to the work of the Maine Federation of Farmers’ Markets (MFFM). The Federation continues to provide financial and technical support for the Maine Harvest Bucks program at Belfast Farmers Market. The Market is open every Friday, 9am to 1pm, in the summer season at Waterfall Arts, 256 High Street in Belfast, and in winter at Aubuchon Hardware Greenhouse, 231 Northport Avenue.
HOW IT WORKS
Every SNAP/EBT dollar spent at the Belfast market earns you an extra $1 in Harvest Bucks that you can use to buy fruits and vegetables including salad greens, strawberries, parsnips, peas, corn on the cob, and so much more offered year-round at the Belfast Farmers’ Market.
With Maine Harvest Bucks, when you use SNAP/EBT at the Original Belfast Farmers Market (Friday 9am to 1pm), you’ll get BONUS Harvest Bucks to spend on fresh fruits and vegetables, on your next purchase of these healthy products at the market.
USE HARVEST BUCKS FOR VEGETABLE, FRUIT AND CULINARY HERB SEEDLINGS
You can also buy fruit and vegetable SEEDLINGS at the farmers’ market with SNAP or Maine Harvest Bucks. If you’re a gardener, be sure to get your seedlings from the experts—your local farmers. At this time of year, farmers are selling vibrant seedlings for your garden. This includes tomatoes, broccoli, kale, parsley, cucumbers. Just a few tomato plants can lead to an abundance of tomatoes come August and September!
