Children must be accompanied by and adult, and will enjoy fun, guided activities related to nutrition and local foods available at farmers’ markets. Participating kids will get to taste foods they may never have tried before, learn about nutrition and meet the farmers who grow and produce healthy local fruits, vegetables and dairy products. Maine SNAP-ed receives funding from the USDA and support from the Maine Department of Human Services, and provides nutrition education to the community with a focus on individuals eligible for SNAP benefits (formerly food stamps).
