Announcing Snap Grows Gardens! You can now use your SNAP benefit as well as Maine Harvest Bucks to purchase seedlings for food-bearing plants at Belfast Farmers’ Market. Are you getting ready to plant your garden? Have questions about how SNAP for Seedlings or Maine Harvest Bucks work? Stop at the Market Info table and ask. The friendly volunteers will answer all your questions.
NOTE: The information booth has moved to the back side of the Waterfall Arts Building NEAR where Peacemeal and Half Moon Farms set up, in order to make use of electricity for the machine.
Belfast Farmers’ Market has loads of vegetable seedlings as the weather warms up and the growing season gets under way. More arrive every week and many varieties are available into early June. Check Market weekly, and ask your friendly farmer if you’re looking for something you don’t see. It’s probably in the greenhouse, and on the way.
We’d like to thank those of you who answered our call for volunteers at the information booth! Welcome to: David Beckford, Diane Braybrook, Deborah Cyr, George Didelot, Bonnie Irwin, and Norman Kehling! If you see these folks, please give them a warm welcome and thank them for supporting the farmers market and Maine Harvest Bucks program! We also have deep gratitude to Katrine Anderson, Marina DeLune, Jacqui Lee, SJ McKay, Nancy McAlley, and Ann Mullen for coming back and giving their all! Those colorful new chairs are Anne’s innovation and contribution. Sit and enjoy yourself! The information booth has moved to the back of the Waterfall Arts Building, in order to plug in our sales machine.
