August is National Goat Cheese Month

Appleton Creamery ChevreIn honor of National Goat Cheese Month, we’re featuring Appleton Creamery, one of Maine’s finest goat cheese makers.

Belfast Farmers’ Market is a favorite outlet for Appleton Creamery, a 60+ goat dairy in Appleton Maine operated by Caitlin, Brad and Fiona Hunter, and various apprentices and local folks.

Hunter has been selling her cheese at Belfast Farmers’ Market since the early 1990’s, and herding goats and making cheese for more than thirty years.

Appleton Creamery cheese is available straight from its maker all year round at the Belfast Farmers’ Market, going indoors  through the winter at Aubuchon Hardware greenhouse in late October.
